Game One
Huskies 6, Bluejays 4
Salvador Perez hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Northeast Huskies outscored the West Side Bluejays 6 to 4.
In the bottom of the 6th inning Northeast scored 5 runs when they came up with 5 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Perez who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Casey Janssen relieved and was untouched by West Side as he recorded the save, his 1st.
Adam Wainwright (1-0) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Chris Sale (0-1) was charged with the loss. Northeast scored big getting 6 runs off him in 5 2/3 innings.
Game Two
Bluejays 7, Huskies 2
Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the West Side Bluejays defeated the Northeast Huskies by the score of 7 to 2 at Huskie Park.
West Side took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits. Northeast was out-hit by West Side, 9 hits to 5.
Max Scherzer (1-0) allowed 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Kris Medlen (0-1) took the loss. He was touched for 4 home runs in his 6 2/3 innings of work.
Game Three
Huskies 5, Bluejays 2
The Northeast Huskies registered 5 runs in the 6th inning and bested the West Side Bluejays by a 5 to 2 score at Rogers Center.
James Shields (1-0) had a steady outing. He went 6 1/3 innings and surrendered up 6 hits and 2 walks and gave up 2 home runs. Jose Valverde was perfect in the ninth giving him his 1st save on the season.
Jake Peavy (0-1) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 8 hits and no walks in 5 innings.
Game Four
Huskies 9, Bluejays 6
At Rogers Center the Northeast Huskies outscored the West Side Bluejays 9 to 6.
Northeast went ahead for good in the top of the 6th inning when they scored 3 runs on 3 hits. Northeast finished with 13 hits while West Side ended up with 9.
Wilton Lopez (1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 1/3 innings. Lopez got help from Casey Janssen who earned his 2nd save. Jon Rauch (0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
First baseman Edwin Encarnacion launched 2 home runs in a losing cause for West Side.
Game Five
Huskies 7, Bluejays 2
In a one-sided affair at Rogers Center the final score was the Northeast Huskies 7, the West Side Bluejays 2.
Shaun Marcum (1-0) pitched a fine game. He allowed 4 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings. Northeast out-hit West Side for the game, 10 hits to 5.
The losing pitcher was Chris Sale (0-2). He gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in 5 innings.
