Game One
Gators 6, Huskies 4
In a good matchup it was the Goldenrod Gators 6, the Northeast Huskies 4 at Huskie Park.
Brett Oberholtzer (1-0) won the game with a masterful relief performance. He surrendered no hits and 1 walk in 2 and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA from 1.80 to 1.17. Goldenrod had 11 hits overall, while Northeast had 8.
James Shields (0-3) was the losing pitcher. He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Game Two
Gators 7, Huskies 2
Goldenrod won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 5 runners on 5 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Aramis Ramirez who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled which was good for two runs. Goldenrod totaled 10 hits on the night.
Brett Oberholtzer (2-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. The losing pitcher was Casey Janssen (0-2) in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
Game Three
Huskies 9, Gators 2
Robinson Cano had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Northeast Huskies defeated the Goldenrod Gators by a score of 9 to 2 at Gator Grounds.
Northeast drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning as they scored 6 runs on 6 base hits. That early scoring held up. Northeast had 13 hits for the game and Goldenrod had 7.
The victory went to Kris Medlen (2-0) who went 8 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs. Jeff Samardzija (0-2) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 7 runs and 7 hits in 1 inning.
Game Four
Huskies 4, Gators 3
Catcher Salvador Perez had 3 base hits at Gator Grounds as the Northeast Huskies beat the Goldenrod Gators 4 to 3.
Goldenrod lost it in the 2nd inning when Northeast did all their damage scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by David Ortiz who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled with all three baserunners touching home. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning.
Brandon Kintzler (1-0) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Bobby Parnell earned the save, his 2nd. Jhoulys Chacin (0-3) was charged with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 8 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Game Five
Huskies 3, Gators 2
One run was the difference at Gator Grounds as the Northeast Huskies defeated the Goldenrod Gators 3 to 2.
Adam Wainwright (3-0) had a solid outing for Northeast. He went 7 innings surrendering 8 hits and 1 walk. Wainwright chalked up 8 strikeouts. Northeast won despite being out-hit by Goldenrod 8 hits to 4.
Bobby Parnell earned his 3rd save. Cliff Lee (2-1) was given the loss. Northeast knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Game Six
Gators 9, Huskies 4
Chris Davis hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Goldenrod Gators topped the Northeast Huskies by a score of 9 to 4 at Huskie Park.
The game started off with Goldenrod taking the lead in the first when they tallied 3 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Davis who disappointed the partisan crowd when he doubled bringing home two baserunners. Goldenrod ended up with 18 hits for the game while Northeast had 10.
The victory was credited to Jeff Samardzija (1-2) who went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs. The loss was charged to Kris Medlen (2-1). Goldenrod knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

46,752 fans were treated to a fine game at Huskie Park as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The Northeast Huskies won by the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.
Luis Avilan (1-0) pitched in relief and was credited with the victory. He went 1 and 1/3 innings and surrended up 1 hit and 1 walk. Goldenrod threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Bobby Parnell got the save, his 4th. Nate Jones (0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
