World Series: Mohawk Valley 4, Northeast 3

Game recaps from the Strat-generated box scores. In this World Series matchup, the No. 1 Northeast Huskies (101-61) had home-field advantage versus the No. 6 Mohawk Valley Lions (87-75).

Game One
Huskies 2, Lions 0

Chris Archer (1-0) and Yu Darvish (3-1) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with Archer and the Northeast Huskies coming out on top of the Mohawk Valley Lions 2 to 0.

Northeast drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning scoring a single run. That was all the runs Archer needed. Neither team managed to score after the 2nd inning. 

Archer was helped out by Casey Janssen who recorded his 2nd save.

Game Two
Lions 5, Huskies 2

In a game at Huskie Park the Mohawk Valley Lions ended a long winless drought and got by the Northeast Huskies by the score of 5 to 2.

Northeast found themselves trailing quickly as the Mohawk Valley bats came through in the first inning scoring 3 runners on 4 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Mohawk Valley had 12 hits for the night while Northeast had 8. 

Stephen Strasburg (2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 2/3 innings and allowing 1 run. Adam Wainwright (3-1) took the loss.

Game Three
Lions 5, Huskies 3

In a tight game it was the Mohawk Valley Lions 5, the Northeast Huskies 3 at Van Slyke Field.

Steve Cishek (2-0) was called upon to do the job and he was the winning pitcher. He went 2/3 of an inning surrendering 1 hit and no walks. For the game Mohawk Valley out-hit Northeast 10 to 6. 

Koji Uehara was credited with his 3rd save. Luis Avilan (1-1) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning.

Game Four
Huskies 4, Lions 2

In a close game the Northeast Huskies got by the Mohawk Valley Lions by the score of 4 to 2.

In the 7th inning Northeast scored 2 runs. After two were out Stephen Drew began the rally when he drew a walk. Justin Upton was next and he drew a walk. David Ortiz then doubled. Northeast managed only 5 hits on the night.

James Shields (1-3) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Bobby Parnell preserved the game for Shields, recording his his 5th save. Yu Darvish (3-2) suffered the loss. He gave up 4 runs in 6 2/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 2.42 to 3.03. 

Game Five
Huskies 6, Lions 4

In a close game it was the Northeast Huskies 6, the Mohawk Valley Lions 4 at Van Slyke Field.

Adam Wainwright (4-1) had a solid outing for Northeast. He was reached for 8 hits and 1 walk in 8 1/3 innings. Mohawk Valley had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 

Garrett Richards (0-1) was the loser. He surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning.

Game Six
Lions 2, Huskies 0

Will Venable had 2 base hits at Huskie Park as the Mohawk Valley Lions beat the Northeast Huskies by the count of 2 to 0.

Mohawk Valley jumped on top to stay in the 2nd inning scoring one runner. That was all Stephen Strasburg (3-0) needed. Koji Uehara was great in relief and recorded his 4th save. 

Chris Archer (1-1) ended up with the loss. He gave up 1 hit and 4 walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Game Seven
Lions 5, Huskies 0

Erick Aybar had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Yu Darvish retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Huskie Park where the Mohawk Valley Lions beat the Northeast Huskies by the score of 5 to 0.

Darvish (4-2) looked very much in control throughout the night. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and no walks in 7 2/3 innings reducing his ERA from 3.03 to 2.45. Mohawk Valley finished with 10 hits while Northeast ended up with 5. 

Koji Uehara earned the save, his 5th. The losing pitcher was Kris Medlen (2-2).
